Story Description: Segregation
Mary Fory moved to Queens from Colombia. Now she lives among immigrants from many different countries, but she's noticed that even those who speak Spanish tend not to hang out with each other. Mary's friends are all Colombians.

Mentor: Mary's mentor is Qin Li. Qin is a TV news anchor and reporter with Sino Television Inc., the only 24-hour channel on the East Coast dealing exclusively with China and related international issues. She graduated with a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University last year. She holds a master's degree in economics from Chinese Academy of Social Science, and a bachelor's degree in law from Chinese Youth College of Political Science. Qin has also authored three books on wide ranging topics. As a journalist, Qin worked as an editor and reporter for seven years at China's largest newspaper, the People's Daily. Blue Sky Station- New York's 3rd Chinatown, a TV news documentary that Qin produced in 2000, won the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences College Award (Emmy Award) in 2001.
